Compounder Mocom will present new material concepts at Fakuma 2026. A directly adhesive TPV simplifies 2K injection molding with PA12 without the need for additional adhesion promoters, while recycled-based carbon fiber compounds reduce component weight and the CO2 footprint.

At Fakuma 2026, Mocom will showcase new developments in two-component technology and lightweight construction. In addition to vulcanizates with optimized adhesion, the product portfolio also includes carbon fiber compounds made from recycled materials.

2K Injection Molding: TPV on PA12 Without a Bonding Agent

For technical hard-soft assemblies, Mocom is expanding the Alfater XL product line with the A70I 4PA1210 grade. This thermoplastic vulcanizate can be processed directly onto polyamide 12 using a two-component injection molding process. The material forms a permanent bond with the PA12 component without the addition of external adhesion promoters. Furthermore, it eliminates the need for the special mold coating often required for demolding soft components such as TPU. Typical applications include seals, hose connectors, and quick-connect systems in the automotive and electronics industries, as well as in the sports sector.

Recycled Carbon Fiber for Lightweight Structural Applications

With the new material types Wic PA 12 30 and Wic PARA 30, the company is introducing two new compounds to its Wic portfolio. Recycled carbon fibers, comprising 30% of the material, serve as the reinforcing fibers, ensuring high specific strength with low material density. The use of secondary carbon fibers reduces the compounds’ global warming potential by up to 65% compared to variants reinforced with primary fibers.

The Wic PA 12 30 compound is characterized by high impact strength at low temperatures and very low moisture absorption. As a result, both the mechanical properties and the dimensions of the components remain stable under fluctuating environmental conditions.

For applications with higher surface finish requirements, the Wic PARA 30 grade—based on partially aromatic polyamides—is available. Due to its reduced water absorption, this material retains its mechanical stiffness and strength almost entirely, even when conditioned. The material is designed for load-bearing components such as display carriers and expands the product portfolio to include electrically conductive variants. For assemblies that do not require conductivity and require custom coloring, the glass-fiber-reinforced Altech PARA GF grades remain part of the product line.

Development Partnership and Global Materials Supply

The new material concepts demonstrate that, in addition to its standard portfolio, the compounder offers customized modifications to meet specific application requirements. “We develop and modify compounds specifically to meet individual customer requirements and support our customers from material selection and development all the way through to the implementation of the desired material solution,” explains Söhnke Müller, Vice President of Global Product Management & Product Innovation at Mocom.

In-house production and development capabilities in Europe, the Americas, and the Asia-Pacific region support processors in implementing international mass-production projects. This ensures a reliable supply of materials, even for globally distributed production lines. “Our global presence enables us to work closely with our customers on-site and ensure a worldwide supply,” emphasizes Stefan Fuhlendorf, Vice President of Global Sales and Business Development at Mocom.
