Formary developed a component made from recycled ABS for an energy storage manufacturer. This example shows that when application, design, and process align, recycled materials can be much more than just a sustainable substitute.

In the plastics processing industry, recycled materials are primarily discussed in terms of their price. They are considered a sustainable alternative to virgin materials, but are often more expensive to source, have more variable availability, or are more challenging to process. For many companies, this creates a conflict of objectives: the proportion of recycled material should increase, but the process must remain economically viable.
